Today in a nutshell:
Got a semi loaded with 40 cu. yds. of compost stuck in the last remaining mudhole along the drive. Took both the neighbors and the BIG John Deere to pull him out.
Ate lunch.
Prepared the new asparagus bed for planting.
Tilled, added compost and planted 2 full beds of lettuce, radishes, spinach, onions, fennel & peas.
Fed weeds to the calves.
Had a blast!

Cut & pulled the sod from the new garden beds today. It's still a little too wet to plow. We're hoping (impatiently) this'll help the soil dry and start to warm....
This stretch will be the new asparagus bed....50 feet for 40 plants that'll start producing a lovely green & purple crop next April. Mmmmmm......

Tomorrow at school, the kids will have this whole basket of hydroponic Holy & Purple Basils. Wow, this stuff is fragrant!
Sales are by donation and the kids'll be on the sidewalk at noon pick-up and after school.

Spinach in our Northmoor garden!

Soil samples have been sent off, and we are patiently waiting for their return.  We're also trying to wait patiently for the precipitation to quit so we may break ground up at "Grandma's," and start growing this season's outdoor crops.  However, the hydroponic gardens are doing fantastic - our dinner salads are delicious!  The tomatoes are fruiting away in Tomato Land.  The kids and adults are so excited you should be able to feel that electric energy radiating through your computer right now!  Get ready for this year at EarthCare because it is going to be awesome!!!
